The role
Design the services and infrastructure that make the product run.
As a Backend Developer, you'll build the services and infrastructure that power Wysera AI's products, from designing APIs and managing databases to integrating AI models and third-party services.
You'll work on the systems behind automation, real-time communication, and intelligent workflows, collaborating with frontend developers, product managers, and AI engineers to ship scalable, secure, high-performing applications used by customers every day.
This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, writing clean backend code, and continuously learning modern backend technologies. You'll work in a stack that includes Python, Django, and DRF, Node and Next.js API Routes, PostgreSQL with pgvector, Redis, and Celery, with OpenAI and Anthropic for AI.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable REST APIs using Django REST Framework and Next.js API Routes
- Build backend services that power CRM features, AI workflows, automation, and business processes
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and migrations
- Integrate third-party platforms such as Gmail, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Twilio, SendGrid, and HubSpot
- Develop AI-powered features using modern LLM APIs and embeddings
- Build asynchronous workflows using Celery, Redis, and background job queues
- Implement authentication, authorization, and secure multi-tenant architecture
- Develop caching strategies to improve performance and scalability
- Build real-time communication using WebSockets and Server-Sent Events (SSE)
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested backend code
- Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve performance
- Take part in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning
Who you are
- Strong understanding of Python or JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience building REST APIs
- Good understanding of SQL and relational databases
- Familiarity with authentication concepts such as JWT, sessions, and OAuth basics
- Understanding of asynchronous programming and background job processing
- Comfortable with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Nice to have (not required): Django and DRF, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, Docker, Supabase, Drizzle ORM, pgvector and vector databases, OAuth 2.0, AWS (EC2, S3, CloudFront), OpenAI, Anthropic or other LLM APIs, WebSockets, CI/CD, monitoring and logging tools, and pytest
